For me, if the word medical was actually coined from medicine ( which means the science and practice of caring for a patient, managing the diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, treatment, palliation of their injury or disease, and promoting their health. Medicine encompasses a variety of health care practices evolved to maintain and restore health by the prevention and treatment of illness.) then any professional course oriented towards this definition is entitled mehn. Afterall, we all are centered towards patients care and that's the goal kawaii

Well, I think anyone studying in a medical school should be called a medical student. After graduation, they can be called other names according to the faculty of education. For example, dentist, microbiologist and so on.

About the distinct term for non-medical individuals, I think we can just call them the general public .
